A 12 day Meditation Guide for the New Year and Beyond!

The first 12 days of January are a very powerful time: On an energetic and symbolic level these initial 12 days of the New Year directly harmonize with the 12 months of the year.  The first day of the year determines the month of January, the second day, February, the third day, March….

To set the tone for the first year of the New Decade we want to invoke favorable energy.  We also set intentions as a way to align our self with a vision for an enlightened future. We manifest that which we focus on, both collectively and individually, so it’s best to live, think, feel and behave as well as possible especially during the first twelve days of 2020. (And of course, don’t worry if you faulted. Start over again)

Read each day’s intention allowing the words to penetrate. For more: Sit at your Altar, set a timer for 3-20 minutes and do the meditation and affirmation as instructed. 

 1. JANUARY 

Just as light radiates, so does energy. There’s nothing inherently wrong or bad about energy itself, it’s how we move it.

Focus: Mindfullness 

Meditation: Breathe deeply and slowly. Feel how you radiate energy, spacious and peaceful 

Affirmation: I rest as all-pervasive, peaceful space 

 2.FEBRUARY

The overwhelming directness of aggression can look like negativity, argumentativeness, chronic victim mentality, and feeling self righteous.  The energy of anger when met with softness of heart transmutes into inner-reflection and outer-reflection.

Focus: Tackle battles in life with knowledge

Meditation: Breathe deeply and slowly. Imagine you are surrounded by blue sparkling light. Inhale the light and exhale black smoke or any thoughts or feelings of annoyance and anger

Affirmation: I am mirror-like wisdom

  3. MARCH 

 Where are you holding back for fear of loss or being taken advantage of, or some other ego-created reason? Where are you still greedy and thinking of your self alone?

Focus: Generosity towards your self and others 

Meditation: Slowly inhale and exhale. As you exhale see yourself loosening  your grip on anything and anyone you are clinging to for yourself

Affirmation: Generosity in body, speech and mind is liberated

 4. APRIL

Hurrying and scurrying about to grasp for pleasurable experiences, passions & desires is a misuse of energy. Trying to be impressive on Facebook & braggadocios about your achievements is silliness. Instead give attention to listening within to the subtlety of meaning in daily experiences. As you open your heart, be with what arises.

Focus: Slow down and deeply listen and speak from heart

Meditation: Focus on the depth and quality of your inhale and exhale. Pay specific attention to the slow and steady exhale. Focus on your heart energy center

Affirmation: My heart’s desire is the starting point for manifestation

5. MAY

Apologizing when you have not hurt anyone is a false sense of humility and egoism. You also give the message to your self that you are always in the wrong. Only say “I’m sorry” when you have acted out ignorantly or aggressively towards others.

Focus: I manifest confidently

Meditation: Breathe deeply and slowly. Choose a personal intention. Visualize your self accomplishing your intention with confidence

Affirmation: All obstacles are removed

6. JUNE 

Wherever there is fear of failure there is paranoia and jealousy. Fear can also move as neurotic action and hunger for power, manipulation and control. Competition and self-clinging drains energy. Use your energy for efficient, effective, and effortless action and accomplishment. 

Focus: Moving in synchronism with universal goodness

Meditation: Breathe deeply and Slowly.  As you inhale visualize a pointed stream of green light pouring into your heart, filling your heart and body with the wisdom of beneficial activit

Affirmation: Manifestation is effortless

7. JULY

Avoiding feelings you perceive as negative or grasping to feelings you perceive as positive can be replaced with being the primary emotion you are feeling. Make friends with the essential nature of emotions.

Focus: Accept everything exactly as it is. We move from letting go to letting be

Meditation: Breathe deeply and slowly. Without judgement, give attention to the movement of emotions

Affirmation: I accept everything exactly as it is

8.AUGUST 

Experience the wonder of how things naturally come and go. Everything in this material world is transitory. 

Focus: Loosening the tight hold on attachments

Meditation: Breathe deeply and slowly.  Choose a material possession where you are strongly attached.  Visualize offering the object of attachment to a higher consciousness/or to the universe

Affirmation: I loosen attachments 

9. SEPTEMBER

Arrogance and Pride keep us from relating directly from the soft aspects of heart. The need to be right and better than others makes those around you wrong and less than.  Instead be satisfied and appreciative of everything.

Focus: Include all beings and phenomena as elements in the rich display of your world

Mediation:  Breath deeply and slowly imagine a stream of yellow light entering your naval region and spreading through your entire body the wisdom of equanimity

Affirmation: I enjoy satisfaction in all experiences

 10. OCTOBER

Focus: Mindfullness 

Meditation: Breathe deeply and slowly. Feel how you radiate energy, spacious and peaceful
