Freedom is Now
Victor Frankl, a holocaust survivor, said that while everything can be taken from a person, the one freedom which always remains is the freedom to “choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
In the Present moment we are free to choose. We do not have to be imprisoned by the past and patterns. There is no cost for freedom: you are free to let go of the opinions of others and your reactions to them. Letting go can be challenging and support is needed, of course.
Perhaps you are taught that freedom comes from outside of yourself. For some, this false lesson is very convincing, particularly when parental, social, and political abuses of power pervasively hammer it into your mind. There are times when you think you can’t change a situation, therefore choose to change your attitude.
Freedom is not an end result or the goal. Freedom is now. From the beginning to the end, we are free: we can be free in the search, in the discover and experience, and in every step we take.
Additionally, if you try to imprison others with your control, prejudice, lies or deceptions, you are not free. You are actually caught in the prison of your intellectual mind. YOU ARE ONLY FREE WHEN YOU ALLOW OTHERS TO BE FREE!
